As a new school year begins, many new things are happening. There are new students, new ways of teaching, and new ways to experience school. Within this “new normal” there are positives and negatives. One positive is the implementation of a fully virtual classroom. I happen to be a fully virtual student and I must say, not having to worry about missing the school bus is pretty sweet! Jokes aside, I’m here to share my personal experience with fully virtual learning so far.
In all seriousness, I genuinely enjoy not having to worry about the bus, since I get the best thing a teen could ask for, (except for a smartphone maybe) sleep. The extra sleep is so good, it feels great when I get up since I’m super rejuvenated and ready to roll! Another great thing about virtual school is if you hungry, you can quickly grab a snack and you don’t have to worry about being late to your class. I’ve also realized that I don’t have to worry if I forgot my notes in my locker. Now everything is digital. You don’t need to bother with lockers or passing time in a crowded hallway. It’s very convenient. On the other hand, there are a few downsides, like not being able to just have your work physically in front of you. It can feel overwhelming at times but I’m learning to manage my time.
Overall, it think that virtual learning is great! There are so many things you don’t have to worry about anymore and that lifts some of the stress that these pressing times produce. In more mature terms, our education is important and we should strive to continue to learn. The more we grow, the more obstacles we can overcome.
