Centereach High School held its annual Senior Academic Awards Ceremony on May 22, 2018. This night commemorated the academic achievements of the Class of 2018. Unlike preceding years, this year there was a significant increase in the amount of people that earned awards and/or scholarships due to the rigor and exceptional academic performance they holistically displayed. These students have excelled academically and persevered through their many arduous courses, with some taking as many as 14 AP classes throughout his/or her high school career. The unprecedented academic achievements of this year’s graduating class, displays not only their hard work and excellence, but also the unwavering efforts of their parents and teachers who ultimately made this possible. Towards the end of the ceremony, Olivia Zhu was announced as the Salutatorian and Anthony Roman was announced as the valedictorian of the graduating class. Our principal, Mr. Bell, provided insight into the outstanding achievements of their high school careers. He was proud to disclose that Olivia will be attending Cornell University next year. Anthony Roman as valedictorian is an exceptional student who has had many extra curricular activities outside of school and has stunned the district with his astounding grades. As a junior, Anthony attended 6 advanced placement courses and sustained a 100 in all of those classes throughout that year. He will be going to MIT next year to pursue his lifelong dream of becoming an imagineer, combining his two passions: entertaining people and engineering. He hopes to create and develop infrastructure meant to be used for entertainment purposes. Centereach High School was pleased to honor all of the students of the senior class that night who exemplified the character and dedication of passionate students. We are all very proud of their many accomplishments and know they will continue to succeed in their future lives.
