Centereach Varsity Cheerleading Takes 2nd Place in the Nation–Double Wow!

By Nicole Sullivan: February 11, 2018

Centereach Varsity Cheerleading takes 2nd place in the nation for their division! After an intense two days of competing the girls persevered and hit another perfect routine on the finals mat. The competition was fierce but the team didn’t let it get to them. They focused on what they had to do and executed their stunts flawlessly. Months of hard work and long practices paid off . Only having been surpassed by Bishop McCourt a renowned team from Pennsylvania was truly an incredible accomplishment. Going into the national competition everyone was confident, but had no idea how it would unfold. “You never really know how it’s gonna go because cheerleading is one of the only sports where you don’t get second chances. It’s 150 seconds to prove that you’ve been working hard for 165 days. The Centereach Varsity Cheerleaders made every second count and it was truly incredible to coach this program,” says head coach Stephani Catalano. It has been an amazing weekend and parents who travelled from Long Island to watch are extremely proud. This officially marks the end of the cheerleader’s competition season.

Today was my last competition as a Centereach Cheerleader and I couldn’t have asked for a better ending. That feeling of hearing our name called was nothing short of incredible. It is in those moments that we, as cheerleaders, are reminded why we do what we do and that nothing is impossible if you work hard and prioritize teamwork. This team accomplished something great as they made Centereach history, and they are not soon to be forgotten.
