By Caitlyn Pietrzak and Megan Rutigliano

This past week students, and even some teachers, participated in Centereach High School’s Spirit Week in preparation for the school’s annual Pep Rally and Homecoming celebration. Students showed their school spirit by dressing up according to each day’s theme.  Monday was Morning Monday where students wore their pajamas to school; Tuesday was TV Tuesday which allowed students to dress up as their favorite TV or movie characters; Wednesday was Western Wednesday where students dressed in Wild Western attire; Thursday was Throwback Thursday where students wore outfits from past decades, and Friday was Fan-atic Friday. On this day, students wore blue and white to show school spirit for the Pep Rally.

Despite the threat of inclement weather, Centereach High School’s pep rally went on as planned on the afternoon of September 15. Athletes from all of the school’s teams, including football, basketball, tennis and gymnastics got a chance to show off their skills and teamwork to their classmates. All of our sports players proudly displayed their blue and white team uniforms, representing their pride for our school, as the audience cheered them on from the bleachers which were packed with the entire student body and faculty. Students wearing blue and white cougar-wear were screaming to support their friends and classmates on the various teams. The audience was also entertained by Centereach High School’s cheerleading teams and kick line team. The cheerleaders impressed everyone with their high-flying acrobat moves and the Cougarettes showed off their precise choreography in some great dance routines. The pep rally was a great success and put everyone is high spirits for Homecoming weekend.
