Asia Heritage Night Celebration–Let’s Dance!

By: Riah Sharma

On Wednesday, May 31, Centereach High School, once again, radiated its uniqueness in the fourth annual Asian Heritage Night with a theme of holidays in Asia. The night began with Principal, Thomas Bell and Asia Heritage Night Chairperson, Olivia Zhu introducing the event to the audience. Afterwards, the country leaders of Afghanistan, Bangladesh, China, India, Pakistan, Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, and Vietnam introduced their country and its holidays. This brief introduction would soon lead to a night filled with laughs and the interaction of various cultures. The event, hosted in the cafeteria included performances, food samples and activities for everyone. All the countries displayed posters explaining the significance of their holidays. Furthermore, the audiences saw a Pakistan Bollywood Mash Up, an Arnis demonstration, an Indian Bollywood dance, a Chinese Ribbon dance and of course a Bollywood dance in which all the countries combined. The performances were mind blowing, and the music brought everyone to the dance floor. Although Centereach High School is not the most diverse school, events such as these show that our students have a lot to offer to our community. We would like to thank all the teachers and students who have put a great deal of effort into our fourth successful Asian Heritage Night!
