On Monday evening, February 13, Centereach High School held its annual Pops Concert. Orchestra, band, and choral groups performed different pop pieces that were very engaging to the audience since they were commonly known selections. The combined chorus sang a Maroon 5 medley and the classic “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough”. The combined bands played the selections “Hawaii Five O”, “Blues Brothers”, and the theme song to “Halo.” The combined orchestra performed “King Kong”, “Fab Four”, and the theme song to “James Bond”. The Jazz Band also entertained by opening the concert. All of the incredibly talented groups helped to create a fun and engaging night. The concert also held a 50/50 raffle to raise money for students in Africa who lack desks for their schools, led by Ms. Verdi. This money would also be used to help create jobs in that area as well to produce the desks, making it such a worthy cause in so many ways. This fundraiser will continue to be ongoing at Centereach as well. The night, overall, was filled with fun, entertainment, and good deeds by raising money for such an amazing cause.
