Cosmetology Students Compete and Win Reginal Competition at SCCC Brentwood Campus

By Christina Marie (beautychickee) Harris

The cosmetology hair competition took place on March 22, 2016 at Suffolk Community College. The competition was for both junior and senior students from schools across the island. There were two winners from each grade that went to compete, including seniors Amanda Mezzich & Brittani Ortiz. In order to be placed into the competition, cosmetology students first had to compete in a local competition. The local competition consisted of having to do a beautiful up-do within 40 minutes. Once winners were selected from the local competition, the winners then had to compete using not just hair styling, but using other techniques such as hair cutting, foiling, and more. The preparation and practice for this competition was well worth it in the end because Brittani placed 1st and Amanda placed 2nd! Although our juniors did not place, they all did an amazing job and we couldn’t be more proud of them! Newfield Junior Rebecca Devine took 3rd place in junior competition. Congrats to Middle Country!  So proud of our girls!
