Sophomores Warned on Dangers of the Social Web

An assembly was held for the sophomores of Centereach High School on April 5, 2016. The assembly was narrated by Officer Groshans of the Floral Park Police Department. Officer Groshans discussed Internet safety with the students. He informed the kids of the dangers of “sexting” and the consequences related to it by describing real-life examples. He also discussed how anything posted on the Internet is permanent and can be seen by anyone, including future employers or the police. Officer Groshans explained to the students how one can stay safe on the Internet by being aware of what one posts. The assembly raised awareness of how dangerous the Internet can actually be.
