Grim Reaper, The Destroyer, The Hooded One, The Angel of Death Reminds Everyone About Destructive Decisions

Last Friday, February 26, 2016, it was Grim Reaper day. Grim Reaper day was a day dedicated to raising awareness about drug usage and driving while intoxicated. Drugs and alcohol is one of the leading causes of deaths in teenagers.  Every 15 minutes a teenager will die due to drunk driving and 60% of all teen deaths from car accidents involve alcohol. According to studies performed by the Center of Disease Control, 2,650 teens between the ages of 16-19 were killed in motor vehicle in 2011, added along with another 292,000 emergency room treatments. The S.A.D.D club felt we needed to spread the awareness about substance abuse. Throughout the day, a true story was told over the intercom about a teenager’s story of their death. Following the story, a Grim reaper would enter a classroom and proceeded to take their victim. After the victims died, they would have to wear a shirt that said DEAD and the victims had to continue the rest of their day in utter silence. Drinking and driving isn’t a situation that cannot be taken seriously. Teens are losing their lives to one choice they made, you can prevent tragedies.  Now it’s on all of us not to forget…
