Running to the High Ground

By: Emily Tirado Recently, the Middle Country Girls Winter Track Team took on Yale University. There was tough competition and the girls raced against top athletes from all over the country, including the second fastest girl in the United States. CHS’ Star track runner Dana Cerbone managed to make it to the semifinals in the 55’ meter race. The team was also able to break some of their school records such as the 4×200 meter relay and 4×800 meter relay. The girls are proud to represent the track team and demonstrate pride within the school.

Math Team Trip

The CHS Math Team recently had their annual field trip to Suffolk County Community College for tournament participation. Going against many schools from around Long Island in answering some extremely difficult problems, the tournament is split into an individual and group stage, wherein the top five scorers of each grade level get awards and the top group scorers receive Frisbees. Unfortunately, our school hovers around average and gets outshined by heavy hitters such as Ward Melville, Commack, or Half Hollow Hills, but it is still an enjoyable experience for all involved.
