Personal Interview with Ms. Visconti

Centereach science teacher Ms. Visconti graduated from Penn State and has been teaching now for about 16 years. This year she returned to our school after being transferred to Dawnwood for the past few years; where she taught seventh grade science. She claims she is “excited” to be back.  She describes her morning routine as “hectic” since she has five people in her family with three children. But she does prepare the night before by pre-making lunches.

She wouldn’t describe herself as a “dog person” or a “cat person”, but more of an animal person. She has chickens on her property who are NOT allowed in the house. Though sometimes for laughs, she will lure the chickens to the door with food and take a picture.  This past summer she read the book Animal, Vegetable, Miracle by Barbara Kingsolver. This book is about a family who lives off only their farm for an entire year. Afterwards, Ms. Visconti had a greater appreciation for the value of food. She stated she would eat one of her chickens and tell her children to appreciate food more as well.
