Music Before the Holidays
By Ivana Newen and Naomi Newen
For three nights in December, the musicians of Centereach High School filled the auditorium with enjoyable and entertaining music. This is the outcome of the students’ musical talent and effort from the previous three months since school began. In all three parts of the Winter Concerts, the band, orchestra, and chorus ensembles welcomed the holidays and New Year together in perfect harmony. The opening concert night started with men’s choir, chamber orchestra, women’s choir, and jazz ensemble. Then, the second night was the concert orchestra and combined concert and symphonic bands performances. On the last night, men’s choir, women’s choir, wind ensemble, select vocal, philharmonic orchestra, and combined chorus performed. The finale of the third concert traditionally ends with current students and alumni of combined chorus and orchestra playing and singing “Hallelujah” by G. F. Handel, thus leaving the audience in the holiday spirit. Families and friends enthusiastically came to watch and support the people on the stage. We look forward to hearing their POPS concert performances in February!
